I saw it and loved it. Bubba Ho-Tep is touching, somewhat spooky, imaginative, original, and fricking hilarious. Many high points throughout.

Joe Lansdale - a Texan Vietnam combat veteran - is one helluva writer. His story says a lot about respecting people, taking the whole person into account, the whole life, not just the shrivelled shell that remains at the end, near death. The movie sticks to these points.

Ossie Davis and Bruce Campbell, two character acting legends at their best. They tackled their roles with dignity and gusto. Coscarelli (he directed Phantasm!) has a light touch that works great with the limited budget. The supporting characters are all great. The final confrontation had me howling, then wiping tears away.

Labors of love don't always work, but this one does. It's a damn fine flick. Everyone involved with it should be proud.
