Nobody in their right mind could ignore the effect that population has on the distribution of power in the world among nation-states. This has always been the case.
Some people though tend to point to cultural and artificial differences between nations and think this is causing a "decline of American power". This ranges from the inane such as McDonald's fast food to the insane such as the American press. (the majority of anti-American of anti-Bush stories that show up on GFY come from American reporters). People ask "how can people think so differently than me?" and then mythologize the answer to include things like "Americans don't have a critical press". People have difficulty believing that people can have access to the same information as them and have a different belief as to how to interpret it.
With the breakup of the USSR America is more powerful today relative to the rest of the world than she was 20 years ago.
America won't decline as much as other nations will rise up. The population advantage will shift toward Asia. Too bad you'll be dead.
