For those of you who are just going to push the "you have so much more freedom if you work for yourself" stuff....dont bother.
In my position in the company I have all the freedom I could ever want. I make my schedule. I decide what days I work, and what hours. I have a little pressure to work a certain amount, but its still up to me. I think I've taken something like 16-18 WEEKS paid vacation in the last 2 years. When Im at work, I run the company. Everyone answers to me more or less. So its a tough decision for me to make.
First you say that you're afraid you wouldn't be motivated if you didn't have a "real" job and that you may slack off.

You also say "I know whenever I have days off its hard to motivate myself to work on the websites instead of going out drinking or sleeping or whatever"

Then you say, "In my position in the company I have all the freedom I could ever want. I make my schedule. I decide what days I work, and what hours. I have a little pressure to work a certain amount, but its still up to me"

It seems to me that you're afraid that if you don't have a boss you won't be able to keep up the pace that's necessary to succeed. If this is the case, don't ignore this!

I'm the same way, I like having someone to work with that depends on me working.

If I were you, what I'd do is find someone to partner up with in the adult business.. and keep my job until I have something good going.

There is no such thing as job security, as you're finding out yourself, it doesn't make any difference if you work for someone else or for yourself.

My advice to you is to pay attention to what you've said your drawbacks are and take them into consideration when deciding what to do.
