Rose,
What's your take on the rebranding of similar vehicles that seems overly prevelant by the Japanese Import Manufacturers?
I.E. Many Lexus models are also Toyota models, many Infiniti Models are also Nissan models. Doesn't it seem pointless for them to keep cranking out vehicles that have a different name plate on them, slightly enhanced features and a 10K price difference?
However I have to disagree with you on the German market segment. American's generally accept crap when they buy a car and don't seem to care. When you buy a German car you get a quailty built piece of machinery that doesn't rattle, shake apart, or have a poor suspension. The worst built Mercedes I've ridden in, (the new C320) was still put together better than any American car I've ridden in.
