My Xbox needs modding
I can show you where to get the source code for the dash, but you then need to steal the MS xbox developer kit somewhere. So just hit http://www.suprnova.org/ for the complete dash and enjoy. Go to Games, Xbox and find teh newest xbox media center build

Then head to modchip.ca / modchip.us and order an executor2.3b lite modchip. Install ti using the LPC pin header method (easiest install ever) then flash the cromwell bios with the bios provided by modchip.ca/us. You only get access to the suport/downloads login password once you receive your order. Follow flashing instruction carefully and use super high quality CD-RW or DVD-r disks for doing so.

Burn that XBMC you downloaded earlier to a disk but edit the xboxmediacenter.xml file first. Just the first 6 or so liens is needed.

Boot the system with it in the drive. Wait until the network attempts either go DHCP and guess or work. Either way, you should have an ftp server up and running on the port and ip it tells you.

FTP into the xbox and upload that XBMC dir you just burned to e:\APPS\ in it's own folder. You will have to then move the default.kde and xml file to c:\ on the xbox and edit the first section of the file again to point the home dir of XBMC to e:\APP\diryouchose
Once you have that done, make a COMPLETE BACKUP OF YOUR ENTIRE C: DRIVE and burn it to TWO cd's
If ever you fuck up the xbox you will NEED this to use it again after removing any modchip.

Also you will need to find out your HD password so you can hook it up to a PC to fix it. This should never have to be done, but be forewarned, make constant backups when you edit ANYTHING. xbox-scene has tutorials on how to recover fucked hard drives or dashes and reading password chips off the board
At this point you must now RENAME xboxdash.xbe to BACKxboxdash.xbe and back it up on your PC.
Rename default.kde to xboxdash.xbe
Eject the cd from the xbox and reboot. Go into setting and enable ftp server.
Right now you can play media no prob but to get access to media on your PC you need to ftp in and modify the xml file for all your shares and smb settings. The ftp ip will be the ip that you specified in the settings file within the first few lines.
