Well, the deed is done. The vet was very nice about it, and let us sit with him privately while the anasthetic took, then he let me hold Geordie's head while he gave the injection. They said not to worry about anything else, they'll mail the bill. Usually they get quite evil if you leave without paying right then and there.
We're getting his ashes in a little jar for Peter's mom, since she had Geordie the longest.
He had a good life. Goodbye Geordie! *sniff*
