That sounds like a personal problem, but really not on topic now, is it?
It should also be pointed out that "one of the best in the country" public schools, will not even be in the same group as the best private schools.
Most students don't realize when they are taking geometry that this can help them in becoming a professional pool player, or that advanced math classes can be used to help them become gamblers with an advantage.
What good is History class? Oh yeah, because those that fail to remember history are doomed to repeat it.
What you take away from school is up to you. You can lead a horse to water, but you can not make him do the backstroke.
