Your outlook is flawed somewhat.
There are lots of people that are most important, valuable, etc than you or I.
I we got killed there would be several people that would suffer and mourn our deaths but... if someone like the president, pope, or Jesse jackson for that matter, there could be a war started.
I agree that all human life has the potential to be of equal importance.
The fact, though, is that some people's death/life do not impact the world as much as others.
