So, we need to make sure there is no civil war, and clean up the mess we made.
How many years will that take? How many years have to go by with more and more people killed before we finally admit we CAN'T clean up the mess?
In Viet Nam, there was always this "light at the end of the tunnel", and we were "winning the war". But we had to keep adding troops while more and more Americans and Vietnamese died. FINALLY, in 1975, some 15+ years after the "war" began, we finally admitted no matter how many troops we had, it would not win the war, nor stabilize the country.
We're going down the same primrose lane in Iraq imho.
