madge the manicurist, the maytag repairman, mr whipple (who is probably even now squeezing and squeezing), ronald mcdonald, cap'n crunch... the list goes on and on.
even public service had it's smokey the bear and woodsy owl.
on a shelf FILLED with the same type of product, a well-known character can stand out from the rest. and that character apparently need have nothing to do with the product. how many tigers eat cereal?
