Mine was also like a conversation with a best friend. Or at least a best friend with benefits.
After four years of dating my the girlfriend blurted out "when are you gonna get me a ring?". Being as she is a red head that can suck a golf ball through a garden hose without spitting it out, I jumped and got the ring.
When I got it to the house I was shaking. I got down on one knee, but she knew it was coming.
It's been a gravy train ever since then.
