Having had unfortunate past experiences with fucktards of the journalistic persuasion I would have to say if the guy phoning you actually IS a reporter, he is not a very good one.
I have to agree with the general theme of replies in this thread and say it is all a crock.
Finding details of stuff is not all that hard if you know how - even easier if you "know-someone-who-knows-someone".
If he rings back, ask foir his credentials (they all have them) and also ask for his editors name and direct phone number, then give him your lawyer's number and tell him to direct any enquiries to your lawyer as you will be taking action regardless.
That should shut him up if he is the goose we all seem to think he is.
