Yeah, alot of those folks were heading west.
Who in their right minds would want to live under the barbarism and backwardness of Russian rule, except maybe Russians themselves.
Alot of those folks that did get west did alot better.
Look at europe today. Living standards are far better than in places under Russian influence. lol
