I grew up there and the number of people I've known who were killed is in the double digits. 
on the other hand, it would be a great place to find girls for porn.
so I guess it depends on your priorities.

Born and Raised here and Ive never had that happen to anyone I knew... what part of Phx did you live in?
Besides the heat, its actually a cool place to live. Prescott Valley is getting better too.
Ive you want to buy a house as an investment, do it in West Phoenix (Avondale/Goodyear). My parents bought a house and in 2 years the value went up $30k
