The most important thing (and I'm from the male perspective teaching the little munchkin junior webmasters gathered 'round my feet) is as sjayne said to be lubed up and to just put the tip in and push very gently until you feel resistance. This is the anal sphincter involuntarily tightening. Once the partner's mind takes over and overrules the sphincter, it releases. Then (still gently) slide slowly in. Assuming you are well lubed, you can now start some serious rumpy-pumpy. Slowly and gently at first, observing your partner's reaction. After a while you can fuck ass just as vigorously as pussy, and believe me it's a wonderful sensation.
BTW, I recommend AstroGlide lubricant...Vaseline is strictly for when there isn't even Crisco around. K-Y Jelly dries up too quickly, and you don't want to have to stop to re-lube for the same reason you don't like stopping any other kind of sex.
