LOL, not many people in the US realize on average 31% of the revenue you pay per gallon goes to the government. Right now that's about .60 cents a gallon.
The US consumes 18 Million Barrels per day of oil out of the world's 80 Million Barrels per day.
Each barrel produces 42 gallons of gas.
So the US is consuming 756 Million gallons per day.
Multiply this by .60 cents and you get the Fed, State and Local government taking in about $450 Million per day. About $1 Billion every 2 days or $180 Billion a year.
You don't hear the government bitching because they've got their hands in the til with the oil companies.
