I can't get that page to load but I assume you are talking about the kids going to school this week in Northern Ireland. It is the lead story in the news all over the UK.
Before I moved to the UK I thought I knew a great deal about this conflict but I think I knew relativly little compared to what you learn when you live in the same nation (please if you are one of those irish that belive it isn't the same nation don't have a go).
I have only been here five years and I am sick to death of this issue. I can't imagine what people that have lived here all their lives feel about it.
My husband run an online newspaper and this big stong man kept crying when he was editing the pics of the babies' terrified faces. Both sides would do this. It just so happens that this time it is these kids.
Maybe its the American in me but I kept having images of those black kids going to the intergrated school for the first time. It just felt the same. Its pure and utter bigotry.
I don't often agree with generalisations of countries but Rip is right the smart ones leave. Most of them are down here in London and are great people. I really would like to visit Ireland but it scares me to death.
Religion wise: I grew up in a very religious home and it really did me some mental damage that I have only recently sorted out. I am not saying I don't have my beliefs now but I will never ever be part of organized religion. Too many people take a good idea and their practices make it evil.
