Sniping is the rule on Ebay.

1. Maybe you only have $100 to spend on a rare item that you want REALLY badly. So you bid $100 and some tard comes along and bids $101. But you can't bid over $100 because you don't have that much. GRR. It's highly annoying when people spend WAY more than something is worth just to outbid you, but you don't really have the right to get upset about it because you would have paid that too, if you could.
2. Sniping is all well and good WHEN eBay's fucking servers work properly. But their servers fart alot and then you can't snipe in time. Or your own ISP goes down, or the baby's screaming at the end of the auction, or a storm knocks your power out, or whatever.
There are obviously alot of other circumstances that can cause problems with sniping, bidding, etc. It's frustrating.
It's definately not worth waving a gun at someone over, but when you lose a hard to find item that you want pretty badly it can really damage your spirit. And I swear, there have been 2 or 3 times when I would have popped someone in the nose if they'd been in the same room with me when they outbid me, like when I got outbid for a Christmas gift for my daughter 2 weeks before Christmas and it was the only item of its kind like it on eBay in many months. She was a very disappointed girl that Christmas.
That's why I don't eBay much, anymore. The want of "stuff" can become obsessive and it's just not worth it.
