screen resolution has nothing to do with PC performance.
i have an old 14 inch color monitor. whether i hook it up to a 486 or a P4 3.02 GHz, i still won't be able to see very well at 1024x768.
and very many older people surf at 800x600 because it's easier on their eyes. i know people with 17 inch LCDs who surf at 800x600.
