Had to comment on #1 rick.
I have worked as an affiliate marketing manager for years...as well as running my own sites....I have to say, if a banner has a full url, as an affiliate, I won't use it.
Type in traffic is certainly valuable, however, if my surfer types in the url instead of clicking I don't get credit for the sale.
As a site owner, your point makes sense, but as an affiliate, it costs me money. ;)
I'd have a nice mix of banners with and without urls so your affiliates can choose for themselves. ;)

I usually use mouseovers with the url to the site....so you can always suggest to your affiliates to use those instead if they don't want to use the url banners
