That's because a monkey has no idea he is better off in the zoo
that trying to forage in the jungle. If the monkey will not evolve
then they must be caged. The jungle evolved and the monkey still
wants to collect bananas at the same old tree he was taught to collect
bananas from when he was a mere chimp baby.
It's not important to make the monkey understand what is good for them
what is important is the jungle works for the lion...for the lion is the king
