A more recent one that I saw on discovery channel had to do with an affluent South Florida businessman who told his girlfriend he was a member of a "killing club", and as part of her initiation into the club, the two kidnapped some drifter, tied him to a tree, and she shot him to death while her boyfriend video taped it. Police later found the tape after the girl confessed and testified against the boyfriend.
Anyway, I'm not sure such videos would actually be considered "snuff" films though. I'm pretty sure in order for it to be considered snuff, the murder would have to be sexually related. I haven't heard of that German cannibal. I know there was a nasty Russian cannibal they caught years ago.

do a google search, for "FBI and Snuff"
they spent millions investigating this and never found a real snuff film.
suicide or cannibal videos are not snuff.
