Although there maybe some dogmatic reverberations of religion (eg. Catholicism and poverty) on the whole, religion forms the moral bedrock where a health respect for rule of law can spring from.

You're mixing up a way of life with believe in a deity higher then man.

I am an atheist and if you ask me about the religions I'd say for most it goes that the rules set by religion are generally fine standards(give or take a few commandments) but that is accepting that way of life not accepting it was a "God" that created them.
