Learning guitar isn't really as hard as some people think. The problem is everybody gives up after a few days because they seem to be getting nowhere, but if you stick with, you will eventually start to notice improvement.
A good way to learn is with
Guitar Pro. It's a pretty simple program that takes a tab and plays it back in midi. Sounds a bit lame, but it's great for getting a feel for the rhythm of a song, and you can slow the playback down as well, which is great for learning solos. Plus, if someone's tab is really fucked up, you'll be able to tell by hearing it, rather than trying to figure out if they were right and you just can't play.

The important thing to remember is that you most likely WILL suck at first, so don't get pissed off and give up. Just stick with it and you'll be glad you did.
