My question is this. DVD RW's hold 4.7 gigs and 120 minutes. What format would that be in. Is mpeg2 the correct format to store the movies onto DVD's? Is mpeg2 format the correct quality for dvd's and VHS? My main concern is storing all the movies on DVD as backups but I want to maintain the quality of the movies that could be used to create new VHS's. Any links to information would be great.
thanks
Always keep your original tape.

Nice if you can hahahahaha out the post processed avi to digital tape. But how times do you want to produce this thing?

hahahahaha to DVD using MPEG2 and fullsize. For computer playback you need smaller size, say 320*200 and compress in MPEG1, an AVI codec or whatever comes with RM or QT formats, that I am not familiar with.

Play around, get to know your software and read the docs. You'lll be an expert in no time.
