Hey, Goliath, yeah, I run in 800x600 - the higher res don't add anything except lower frame rates, so this is how I like it, too

I really do think that key binding the piston is cheating - it's a tool set up for the player after the game is released - i.e. it's not standard - so it's bs in my book. But you are probably right - everyone's probably using it, and you'll need to use it if you're in competitions. Oh, well.

I never heard of the netspeed thing - what does it mean, and why does it create the lag effect? Does it force the computer to accept/send info at a slower rate to make it seem like you just jumped on a 56k? Nasty trick. Boo.
