Here's a little guide on how to choose your hosting company.
1) Ask your peers who they host with. Experienced webmasters can give you better advices than sig whores. When asking your peer webmasters make sure they are using similar data to what you will be using (Scripts and lots of mysql or just images and html pages)
2) Just because a company got 432432 sigwhores on GFY and twice as many bots doesn't mean they are good.
3) Price isn't everything. If it's too good to be true its probebly is. I prefer to pay extra $200 - $300 a month and sleep quietly and know my server is up and running.
4) Support is one of the most important things you need. 24/7 phone & email support is a must. If you use ICQ ask about ICQ support... I find it to be the shit.
5) Search on GFY (Or any other board) for any complaints, yet do not make your decision sololy on the search you've made.
6) Dedicated is the way to go. I don't know about you but I would rather not host on the same server with 432312 other webmasters. Those if you don't use a lot of script and mysql a semi dedicated would be more than enough to satisfied your hosting needs.
7) Prices on the site are NEVER the real prices. Call or contact someone and ask them for special deals.
8) Make sure you know what you are getting. There are 2 types of billing systems. 1 is per GB and the second one is per Mbps.
Make your decision wisely because your business will rely on it.
