Again, a government grade encryption / data wipe program set on level 7 blowfish wipe will forever eliminate your tracks. It will wipe and overwrite the sectors with random 1s and 0s (basically garbage data) 7 times over. It will be clean. But if you need that level of security, you're either paranoid beyond the ability to function properly as a human being, or you are into some really heavy illegal shit.
Probably be better to just encrypt yer stuff with seriously heavy encryption. Make sure it's uncrackable. That way you get to keep your stuff, and keep it inaccessable to everyone else. Do a data wipe only if the Feds are beating down the door.
I personally preferred to keep the entire harddrive encrypted. It wouldn't even boot without the right key, which of course, is kept on a floppy that can be destroyed in an instant.
