But typing on forums, chatrooms or IM's for long periods of time gets you into the habit of basically talking to/with yourself.

You are reading this message that I am typing (and all the others). It's not in my voice... it's in yours. Your replies are written in your voice as well.
So when you work on the computer chatting with people for 8 hours a day, its kind of like talking to yourself all day long.
