? Backup anything important on C:
? Format C:
? Install fresh copy of Windoze
? Install Norton Antivirus Pro 2004 (Scans for Adware now)
? Do a full system scan on your virgin install of Windoze
? If all is good, keep auto-protect on, and be careful what you click on.
I just had to do all of this, after 2-3 days of trying to remove spyware/adware off of my system.
The original scan from AdAware6, found 19 bots. After removing them, I ran Spybot S&D, and that found another 12. So, I cleaned those off. I ran AdAware again, and it found 23 new ones.
After going around in circles I ended up with 57 ad/spy bots on my system with 12 virus' installed. This is when I decided to just rebuild Windoze.
I have read quite a few articles on Adware and Spyware removal utilities, and it seems that alot of them just install their own spyware that gets overlooked when you do a scan. Each different program installing different bots. They wipe off their competition's bots, and put their own on.
