Get cubase or cakewalk for midi sequencing and audio recording. A P3 1000 can handle a lot of tracks, 30 easily. Buy a 24 bit soundcard for recording, Gina maybe. For starters get a Shure SM58 mic, pretty inexpensive. Get a keyboard/synth - will be the most confusing buy. Now you're all set to begin! As you advance you'll keep adding stuff, but this much is enough to set you off comfortably.
