I know what you mean timinator..... I have a 17 year old that HAD to take Spanish, while she is in this mindset that if they come here then they have to learn her language.. like so many where I live. I tried to explain to her that if she gets a job like I have where she HAS to interact with people all over the world, she may wish she'd have studied it a little harder........ but nope, I am just the insane mom wanting her to be all she can be. LOL

I live in a very small community where 1/2 the people have never even been out of the state we live in and would totally freak if they ever heard a foreign language....... so by default that kinda gets passed down, whether I like it or not. The teachers here teach it but not the importance of it, so the kids do not get the importance of learning a foreign language, therefore they don't try as hard, and it's them that is hurt later.
