You have to be prepared to mess with yer mind. Recognise it's more psychological than anything else.
After 8-9 tries (longest 1 was 8 months), I got it right:
It's called something like neurological programming or something. Who cares? Here's how you do it:
1. What is it that pops into your head just when you feel like a cig? (for me it was a beautiful picture of sunshine, summer, relaxing, happiness etc.).
2. Take this picture and *gradually many times over* shrink it down in your mind and *replace* it with a black-and-white small rainy boring picture instead. Repeat it over and over a few times until you have it right.
3. Convince yuorself that you have *always* been a non-smoker. Always.
I did the above (after reading a book by some American wanker guru) and gave up in a space of 1 hour on the 21st of Jan 1995, and I have *never* even had a craving. Never a craving! I was on 45 cigs a day at the time.
I know the above can sound a bit wanky, but it'll probably make me live another 5-10 years longer and be a lot healthier. I could of course get hit by a bus tomorrow
Good luck!
