If you do hourly rates you goto still make it worth your time.
I charge an hourly rate of $82.00 an hour and tend to charge by project. I've read some books about running design business and I would highly reccomend that you do the same.
The problem with design business is pricing and there is a saying "Ya get what you pay for" it especially applies to design. There are design companies out there that look at a client with a straight up face and say, "Yeah we can do this for $20,000 and thats without our inhouse marteketing and branding services".
Art is simply priceless and it shows in todays modern creative works in media that there are serious companies out there that bid serious money to serious companies and the reality of it is simple. If they sucked they could never charge what they do for there services.
Value your work for your time and the results of your work to your clients. Good work that improves bottom line for clients is really the goal of the game and trust in the fact they will pay any price for your services within the bounds of what they can afford and view as an acceptable cost for the production effort.
