People were brainwashed, back then by misinformation and not all doctors had common sense
check this little blurb out;
Surgeons continued to perform open-heart surgery without anesthetic, using curare only to paralyze the newborn, until 1987.49 A public outcry finally forced surgeons to stop this practice.
unbelievable
I heard an old lady talking about how they cut her tonsils out without using anesthetic when she was a child, and she can still remember the sound it made "like tearing gristle from a chicken" and she was 100+ years old
so it shows you the impact of pain
doctors made money from removing tonsils, like taking out your appendix, and it was an easy operation = easy money
people were brainwashed (scared) into thinking that this was necessary, to reduce risk of infection, and maybe even save a child's life
There are almost as many nerves on the end of the penis as there are in the lips and mouth, would you allow the doctor to cut a piece from your child's mouth without freezing it first?
I am glad that I was smart enough not to have that done to our kids, even though it was done to most of us
