I also think its the money, and you should keep in mind, $300-1000 is a huge amount of money to some of these girls. I worked at Burger King when I was that age, and I made $3.35 an hour (never made it to Shift Manager.)
As far as the mentality, I've shot a lot of 18 year olds and they range from CFU (completely fucked up) to "My Child is an Honor Student" types, with all points in between represented. Some have a healthy attitude about sex and see acting in porn as another extension of their sexuality, and others couldn't give a rat's ass.
