As far as drinking goes, there are posters in EVERY restuarant and bar bathroom telling pregnant women not to drink while pregnant. They simply can't plead ignorance any more.

Fetal stress when you quit smoking while pregnant is one of those things that has to be guaged from one pregnancy to another. It CAN cuase them stress (from withdrawls), however generally it's not enough stress to cause real problems...
Drinking alcohol while pregnant is SEVERELY dangerous... Fetal Alcohol syndrome is with a child for life.. It can cause all kinds of mental deficiencies or even retardation. It's terrible.. I'm glad I quit smoking for sure, and I'm really glad I don't drink. I DID have one sip of wine on my wedding day while I was pregnant, but one sip is certainly not enough to even make a difference
