I could have sworn that Jefferson said that, but apparently I just remembered it wrong from way back. After trying to find it again in Jefferson's writings, I found the spirit of the quote to be something that Jefferson wouldn't have said. Although I am embarrassed beyond anything I can easily convey due to this misquoting, I appreciate you bringing it to my attention.
