I dated a girl in my mid 20's, was really in love. We dated for 2 years, then she broke up with me, said she still had "more living to do" before she settled down.
I was heartbroken, but moved on. When I was 28, I met a beautiful 23 year old. Got married at 30. A year later that old girlfriend got back in touch with me. She was 31, single, and kind of tired looking. Said she should never have broken up with me, said she missed her chance. She even hinted that she wanted me to get a divorce to be with her. It was pretty sad, she just seemed so desperate.
The saddest part was at the end when she realized that I just wasn't into her anymore. She got this defeated look on her face, then asked if I had any friends I could introduce her to. The cruel part of me enjoyed saying "sorry, all my friends are married now."
