They used to be. But in the 12 Century one of the popes decided it was wrong for them to be married. Because the children of priests were walking off with the churches valuables. That's religion for you wealth first people second.
The pope is pissed that people will pay $100 to watch a football game or millions to advertise during one and will not drop money in his tray.
