8 sets of 30 for the first time working out is a lot too much. Hell, even for someone who's been working out for awhile, typically 3 or 4 sets is all that's needed.
Anyhow, the second day after the workout is always worse than the first. I'd recommend stretching as much as you can, even though it hurts like a son of a bitch. Also, I'd make sure you hydrate yourself well (water) and take a couple ibuprofen as necessary.
Next time you go to the gym, take it easy for the first couple of weeks and let your body adjust before increasing your workout regimen. I'm not a personal trainer or anything, but I have hired one. If you go to a gym who has personal trainers available, I'd highly recommend talking to one about a workout strategy to get whatever it is accomplished that you want to accomplish.
