Its really simple to tell when to use "I" as opposed to when to use "me". Simply remove Steph from the sentence and see what makes sense.
Right:

Wrong:
Steph and me went to the store.
Me went to the store.

John gave the ball to Steph and me.
John gave the ball to me.
Wrong:
John gave the ball to Steph and I.
John gave the ball to I.
