XP - Not getting into anything of the politics here, but that post was completely wrong.
Linux had absolutely *NOTHING* to do with *ANY* file permission problems. Go talk to your systems administrator who is obviously in need of a HUGE whack upside the head with the cluebat. Switch providers now if this is what he told you.
Man, that is a load of bullshit. Any file permission problems you had would be portable from Linux to BSD to solaris if you wanted them to, and both just as easily fixed on any of those OS'es.
I've noticed a LOT of "wannabe" idiot "hosts" post on this board, who only have access to cheap bandwidth and not a DAMN fucking clue as to what their doing technically, and it's REALLY showing through.
To All: If your host feeds you bullshit like this, consider paying a tiny bit more per gig and getting a REAL host who knows what the fuck their doing. Not some host who doesn't even know how the fuck the most basic of basic Unix security models works. If your host doesn't even understand this, how do you think you can trust them to patch more complex holes?
Or else, if you enjoy being fed bullshit excuses in the place of true technical talent, continue hosting at the lowest priced place you can find, without regards to anything else.
Argh. Pet Peeve!
