well vector is vector - if u can produce a vector piece of work in Photoshop that's fine, but most printers will want it in AI or EPS format. I'm no expert on printing, maybe these days PSD files are more commonplace in print shops since Photoshop added real vector tools. File size is friggin meaningless these days in graphics - not talking about web graphics of course.

snobbery exists in every profession, those Illustrator snobs are what are called 'art fags' who have that superior attitude when it comes to software and other tools. Tell them you use PaintshopPro and see their reaction.
