If someone is trying to keep something afloat, writing bum checks is a very poor way to do it. Do they expect that the bank is gonna clear the checks? Not only do you have to pay the orginal amount, but then the banking fees and you might get your ass thrown in jail.
If you dont have the money in your account, you dont write checks. Period.
Your better off simply telling your webmasters that this, that and the other went to hell and you will take care of the situatiuon - and then do it. You volunteer such information right away, instead of waiting for people to come looking for it and then making them pry it out of you. Some people scream fraud a bit early, but usually this is because thier requests to the "where is my money" question have been ignored.
Most people have only themselves to blame for the failure of thier business. Customers are an amazing species, if you treat them with just a tiny bit of respect and don't lie to them they can be extemely sympatetic and understanding.

Hello? Have you ever operated a large affiliate program?
You know how many banks have fucked over adult companies in this business and not given them notice that they put a hold on their bank accounts? Meanwhile all their checks start bouncing.
