More ASScroft possibilities...

A friend directed me to a posting on a relatively obscure, but quite popular website: www.slashdot.com

Here is the posting...

"Is Star Wars: A New Hope the most violent movie ever? What I mean is, does it have the highest body count of any movie ever? They blow up a planet full of people and then a death star full of people! I figured if anyone would know, it would be you guys." That's a very good point. If violence is measured by number of sentient beings killed, then Star Wars Episode IV is going to be first on the chopping block when the Republicans come to censor our movies. And censor they will. Also there's the one episode of Star Trek: Voyager in which not just planets but entire species are wiped out, but then they crash Voyager into the time ship and the timeline reverts to the way it was so nobody ever really died ... or did they? Anyway these are the films, ladies and gentlemen, the mass-murdering films and TV shows, that John Ashcroft will ban, in conjunction with the Christian Coalition. Anyone standing up for them will be tarred as defending mass murder. Mark my words."

-------

This makes me wonder if documentaries about past wars and ancient civilizations will be banned as well because topics such as genocide and murder were the overall theme at times. Uh-oh.... Will the news broadcast be banned/censored as well? Can't talk about and DEFINITELY cannot show anything that is somehow related to violence, crime or as they like to say off the record, 'bad things'. The show COPS will have to go, so will Homicide: Life on the Streets, Court TV is history as well, and... egads! No more Tom and Jerry (too much violence)!

The way i see it, if you're gonna ban one thing, you may as well get 'em all. Yep. Rock on, Ashcroft. Remove anything from our lives that even suggests of or remotely alludes to things you and your self-serving and overbearing (im)moral majority(?) followers think is wrong.

That means the 700 Club will be begging for money on TV 24/7 -- and it will be the only channel available. No more nudie bars or porn in general. Movies will contain flowers and flowers and people dressed solely in loose-fitting non-revealing sack cloths. No one will be admitted to public pools. Period. Can't risk anyone seeing your flesh. Let alone human flesh glistening with water droplets. WAY too perverse!

Life will be so wholesome and so pure. I can hardly wait. We'll all be locked away in our stark barren cubicles watching the 700 Club. Such a peaceful time it will be.

Yep. Especially after everyone kills themself out of boredom.

If you're wondering, yes, this was indeed a rant. I hope you enjoyed it.

Your friend and mine,
