If anyone has odd sleeping habits or they snore then they should do a sleep study. My wife was complaining about my snoring for several months, but it wasn't until we were away and I was sharing the room with someone else that they told me that I was actually gasping for breath as well as snoring. Turns out that I have obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) which means my airway muscles relax too much when I sleep, and eventually close completely. My brain wakes up my body to force the muscles to open again. This cycle can repeat several times per hour, I think the average from my last study was 80/hr (ie a blockage every 45 sec).
People with OSA never have a proper deep sleep so they usually feel pretty lousy. Weight can make it worse too, the only way that I can really control it is by losing some.
Worth considering.
