I like to tell myself that on a 200k/day gallery, the freehost gets about ten-dozen click-thrus and I get all the signups
Actually, if I get 4 or 5 signups, then really not much has changed except that the money is all mine, and none of it goes to bandwidth. I can't say for certain that I got ALL the signups and the freehost got none, but I don't even think about that. Fact is, I usually do about the same either way, except one is free, the other is not.
