You probably know this, but I thought I would share anyways.
If you've been submitting to TGPs, posting to message boards or even listed your e-mail address on your sites - you know how much spam you can get. New sponsors, new sites, selling content, offering hosting etc.
I use a little trick to track which sites are selling addresses. If you have a domain with unlimited aliases* (most hosts I know supports this), just include the name of the place you submit to in the user field.
Example:
If I am submitting to X-TGP, I will enter the contact address as "
[email protected]" and voila - next time I receive UCE/spam, I check the headers and find "TO: x-tgp@".
* = Anything e-mailed to *@yourdomain.com will go to your master account.
