Most real estate agents are lucky to sell a few houses each year. The average agent makes something around $50K.

Don't forget the brokerage company usually takes up to 1/2 the 6% and then the listing agent and the selling agent split the 3%.

So if a real estate agent sells a $500K home every 2 months, they're only making about $7,500. And they have lots of expenses as well.
